Fifa 11 Offside lifted ?

Hello , i've recently played a match on fifa 11 ( offline ) where a player that is on offside receives the ball from another team player , where i commit a fault on , the offside is lifted and the player who was on offside can go on with the ball ?
Does the player where i commit a fault on get the fault instead of letting the offside go on ?
I thought offside always was given ? :) :)
