I've read both blogs and am not surprised that you enjoy keeping the nets in Clubs, instead of offline, noticing your laundry list of issues in the Goalie Career Mode. I saw a similar delay to what you mentioned in moving the goalie sideways, and I've mastered Manual Saves (to a mediocre degree I must admit). But the delay may seem 1 second long because of response times + the length of the side-step animation. It is that way perhaps to cater a cautious positioning of the goalie.
I believe you can move faster and thus more responsively with the sprint button, although setting yourself and timing a save might become more difficult. I am not a Pro Goalkeeper and cannot bear to make all the mistakes and learn from them to start to enjoy the full benefits.|||I occasionally play as a goalkeeper online in pro ranked matches, but my rating is an 88 I think. When playing and shooting against keepers that are a 91 in clubs it seems like they hardly have to do anything to save a shot. Almost like they are magnitized to the ball. The reason I bring this up is because I have played with people who have downloaded their VP online (which I completely disapprove of btw) to get a high rated keeper and with almost no experience in goal come into a match and save every shot just by switching their settings to assisted.

I agree with you, 90+ Goalkeepers are too strong! As i always say, assisted controls should be eliminated from the Pro Club Mode ! It's unfair and boring ! Semi assisted controls by default
For me ,these should be the the default controls in fifa for the pro club :
Auto Switching: AirBall
Auto Switching Move Assistance: Low
Passing Power Assistance: Off
Pass Assistance: Semi
Through Pass Assistance: Manual
Shot Assistance: Semi
Cross Assistance: Semi
Lob Pass Assistance: Manual
Save Assistance: Manual
Analog Sprint: On
No possibility to switch to Assisted.|||The main issue for the goalkeeping is simple: the whole way the saving is designed is hideous. Once again EA came completely unstuck when they made their assistance settings and by holding LB and pressing A, even a realtively low rated keeper can save -EVERYTHING-. Absolutely no skill, absolutely no fairness, and thus, it's all over FIFA.
That whole mechanism needs to be pulled out and rebuilt - this is even more important than in the rest of FIFA - if the assistance is too high for the goalkeeping it will literally be the computer playing and that is more or less what happens on Clubs at the moment.
Also, lateral movement is ridiculously sluggish.|||I agreed with both articles Fodder007 wrote. Playing online is much better for the player with gloves than offline. But I must add that for me, Be a Goalkeeper is a great move EA made. I hope they get the bad reviews the mode had to work on it ratter than putting it aside.|||

Really hoping they take on board the comments and make enough changes to allow a goalkeeper career to really work in Fifa 12.|||I regularly play online clubs with a group of mates and we all feel the goalkeepers (as they currently are) have definitely detracted from our enjoyment of the game. Once a keeper has a decent ranking they are pretty much unbeatable with a normal decent shot i like the idea of having/being a keeper but as it is it definitely makes the clubs element kinda bland.
As an aside i also think the little fast striker is another bland element to the be a pro/online clubs, it becomes very bland when every other player is 4 ft nothing n very quick ........ yawn yawn ........ still there is a real pleasure to beating the odd human keeper (but needs to be more realistic) and like shutting out the silly little quick yawn yawn pro's
its a good game but def needs some bits addressing.... :) : :)|||Sort the goalies out n get rid of the silly 4ft fast pro element ............ makes for very one dimensional way of playing ......
